The AustralaSian COVID-19 Trial, is a multi-centre randomised adaptive platform clinical trial to assess clinical, virological, and immunological outcomes in patients with SARS-CoV-2 infection (COVID-19). The New Zealand arm of the study is led by CM Health clinical microbiologist and infectious disease consultant, Dr Susan Morpeth.

CM Health ophthalmologist and new researcher to MMCT, Dr Rasha Al Taie, has recently been successful in receiving funding from the Potters Masonic Trust, with help from our grants team, for a study investigating the early detection of keratoconus through artificial intelligence.

Dr Jon Mathy is a researcher and plastic surgeon, who has been with Middlemore Hospital since 2010. He has a huge desire to improve patient care, particularly surrounding wound healing and management of surgical site infections. Dr Mathy and his co-collaborators have recently been awarded a research activation grant from the New Zealand Health Research Council (HRC) as an initial investigation into the use of anti-staphylococcal bundles in reducing post-IBBR SSIs.
