Clinical Trial Dietitian - Middlemore Hospital
Are you a motivated, patient-centred Dietitian passionate about contributing to high-quality clinical research? Aotearoa Clinical Trials is seeking a Clinical Trial Dietitian to join our research team to support the delivery of innovative commercial and investigator- initiated clinical trials to improve health outcomes and advance scientific knowledge. Full time and part time (0.5FTE or more) applicants welcome.
About the Role
As a Clinical Trial Dietitian, you will play a key role in planning and scheduling participant consultations, undertaking dietetic consultations, accurate data collection, and accurate and timely data entry. Working closely with investigators, study coordinators, and participants, you will ensure that nutrition interventions are implemented accurately, safely, and in accordance with ICH-GCP, study protocols and regulatory guidelines. Training in clinical trial coordination will also be provided, giving you the core trial and project management skills and experience to contribute more broadly to clinical trials. This role will be based at our Middlemore Hospital site but will provide dietetic consultations for trial participants nationally.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide expert nutritional assessment, counselling, and monitoring to clinical trial participants.
- Translate study protocols into practical nutrition plans, meal guidelines, and education materials.
- Ensure compliance with trial requirements, including documentation, data collection, and reporting.
- Work collaboratively with the research team to optimise participant engagement and retention.
- Maintain up-to-date understanding of relevant regulatory, ethical, and Good Clinical Practice (GCP) standards.
- Provide broader support for clinical trials.
- Participate in team meetings, audits, and monitoring visits as required.
About You
You will excel in this role if you are a proactive, detail-focused health professional who enjoys working in a dynamic research environment.
Essential skills and experience:
- Masters in Health Sciences in Nutrition and Dietetics.
- At least 12 months working as a qualified dietitian and evidence of providing dietetic consultations (planning and execution).
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport with participants.
- Excellent organisational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to work autonomously and collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team.
- Commitment to participant safety, data quality, and ethical research conduct.
Desirable:
- Previous experience in clinical trials or research environment.
- Understanding of GCP guidelines and trial governance.
- Experience developing participant education materials.
