Research Nurse - Middlemore Hospital
Are you an experienced Research Nurse or a Registered Nurse looking for a new challenge? We are seeking a Research Nurse to work at our Middlemore Hospital site. The postholder will be required to work shifts: days (07.00 - 16.30), evenings (variable) and overnight (12 hour shift). Flexibility is important as the schedule will vary. Some weeks may be all days, some weeks will be a combination of evenings, days and nights. This role can be either full-time or part time.
Role Description
The successful candidate will be responsible for the clinical care of clinical trial participants across a number of therapeutic areas. No two days will be the same. On site training will be given as required, this could include chemo training, spirometry, fibroscanning. This role would suit someone who likes variety, can communicate complex information to participants, can prioritise workloads and multi-task, and can think critically. Your role may encompass: administering drugs, collecting clinical data, accurate and timely documentation of visit activities and assessments, assisting with recruitment, liaising with the wider team regarding participant safety issues.
Qualifications/ Experience/ Skills
- RGON or R.COMP NURSE
- Preferably 3 years post grad experience
- Ability to use/ quickly learn technology
- Time management/ organizational skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication/ telephone skills
- Critical thinker

Role Description
The Clinical Trial Coordinator is responsible for the day-to-day activities of clinical trials, ensuring all activities adhere to protocol, regulations, and ethical guidelines. The successful candidate will enjoy working across multiple trials and therapeutic areas, be adept at juggling priorities, delegating workloads and holding people to task. You will be responsible for ensuring recruitment targets and contractual milestones are met, data collection is accurate and timely, overall trial execution and working closely with investigators, sponsors, CROs and other healthcare professionals. ACTT Clinical Trial Coordinators are trained in clinical skills and to conduct participant visits. This role would suit someone who is organised, works well under pressure, likes variety, can communicate complex information to participants, can prioritise workloads and multi-task, and can think critically.

- MSc or PhD in health, medical science or science field
- Minimum 2 years experience as a Clinical Trial Coordinator

Pharmacy Technician - Middlemore Hospital
Aotearoa Clinical Trials, a leading provider of clinical trial services, is seeking an experienced Pharmacy Technician to join their research team at their Middlemore Hospital site. In this full-time position, you will play a crucial role in supporting the clinical trial process by managing the supply, storage, and documentation of investigational products (IP) according to the Pharmacy Manual, SOPs, Good Clinical Practice (GCP) and relevant legislation. This role will suit someone with a learning mindset, who thrives in a busy working environment. Previous experience of aseptic techniques and use of an isolator an advantage. Accuracy and attention to detail are essential.
What you'll be doing
- Managing the receipt, storage, dispensing, returns, and destruction of IP.
- Reconstituting/ compounding IP using an isolator.
- Ensuring all pharmacy procedures are compliant with GCP, SOPs, and regulatory guidelines.
- Maintaining detailed, timely and accurate records for internal and external audits, and inspections.
- Prepare and dispense IP for clinical trial participants under the supervision of the Pharmacist
What we're looking for
- Managing the receipt, storage, dispensing, returns, and destruction of IP.
- Pharmacy Technician qualification (Level 5+)
- Minimum 3 years' experience as a Pharmacy Technician, ideally in a clinical trials or pharmacy setting
- Experience in aseptic technique and use of an isolator for reconstitution/ compounding
- Strong knowledge of pharmaceutical regulations, guidelines, GCP, and best practices related to the handling of IP an advantage
- Excellent attention to detail and ability to maintain accurate records and documentation
- Proficient in the use of IT systems
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Demonstrated problem-solving and critical thinking skills

Pharmacist (Research)- Middlemore Hospital
As a Pharmacist - Research, you’ll play a key role in the safe and compliant management of Investigational Products (IP) across a range of clinical studies. The team of Pharmacists are the designated points of contact for research pharmacy services and are responsible for ensuring the safe and timely management, storage, reconstitution/ compounding, dispensing, administration and documentation of all IP, while ensuring compliance with the IP Manual, legislation and Good Clinical Practice (GCP). This role would suit someone who thrives on variety, can work well under pressure, enjoys learning, can prioritise and think critically. Over a standard week you could be dispensing chemotherapy, compounding/ reconstituting using an isolator and/ or vaccinating. Training will be provided. Full-time and part-time applications welcome. The role is based at our Middlemore Hospital site.
What you'll be doing
- Providing pharmaceutical expertise and oversight for all stages of clinical trials
- Ensuring adherence to Good Clinical Practice (GCP) guidelines, SOPs, IP Manuals and all relevant legislation and regulations
- Developing and reviewing internal quality control documents and processes
- Providing education to patients as needed
- Ensuring optimal supplies of stock, equipment and resourcing
What we're looking for
- Providing pharmaceutical expertise and oversight for all stages of clinical trials
- New Zealand Registered Pharmacist with a Bachelor of Pharmacy
- Minimum 3 years' experience in hospital, clinical or community pharmacy experience.
- Clinical trials experience an advantage but not essential as training will be provided
- Applied experience in aseptic knowledge/technique/compounding
- Experience with use of isolators in pharmacy and/ or ability to vaccinate an advantage
- Excellent attention to detail and a commitment to maintaining the highest standards of quality
- Ability to manage multiple studies and competing priorities with accuracy and professionalism
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate with multidisciplinary teams
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite and ability to learn new technology easily
